Store Management Trainee Program

This paid program is designed to develop successful leaders for a career in Store Management at one of our locations. This 12-week program rotates through all departments within our stores, enabling trainees to understand every store operation. We’re looking for individuals who are willing to relocate, so they can be placed as an Assistant Store Manager in one of our Shopko or Shopko Hometown locations upon program graduation.

Executive Merchandising Trainee Program

This paid program prepares future teammates for a career at our Corporate Office. This 12-week, classroom and on-the-job training program, combined with leadership and professional development opportunities, creates a fast-track opportunity for growth within our Shopko Merchandising and Inventory Teams.

Pharmacy Internships

A paid program for pharmacy students who want to grow within the pharmaceutical profession, this 12-week, hands-on internship exposes interns to the rewards of working in a retail pharmacy while practicing the skills learned in the classroom. We’re looking for students enrolled in a Pharm D program and have a Pharmacy Intern License.

Corporate Summer Internships

A full-time, paid, summer internship offers opportunities in specific areas of study. This 12-week program combines real-life experience with professional development courses to prepare students for their chosen career.

How do I apply?

All of the positions Shopko is actively hiring and accepting applications for are found on this website. Click “Search Jobs. Apply Now” to see our available positions by job title, area of interest, or location.

I have submitted my application. Now what?

Once you’ve submitted your application and completed your profile, a Shopko recruiter will review your application, and reach out to you if your qualifications match the position. After you apply, you’re able to update any personal information in your profile by logging into your account.

I have been selected to interview. What are a few things I need to know?

At Shopko, we use several types of interviews to get to know you. Your location and status in the application process determines which of the following interview types you’ll experience.

Phone Interview:

  • A phone interview is the initial conversation before an in-person interview
  • Be prepared to share previous work experience, your interests about the position, and why you are a good fit for Shopko
  • Answer behavioral-based questions with CAR technique, describe the Challenge, what Action you took, and the Results you achieved

Virtual Interview:

  • A virtual interview is conducted when you and the interviewer are not in the same location and connect via Webcam
  • Consider your background and make sure it looks professional
  • Look straight into the camera by raising your computer with a book or box and be aware of the lighting
  • Dress in a professional manner, just as you would for an in-person interview

Before the In-Person Interview:

  • Research Shopko and the job description to understand how you and your work history relate to the position
  • Prepare questions related to the position and our company
  • First impressions are critical, dress appropriately for the position you’re interviewing for

During the In-Person Interview:

  • Use proper body language and posture, and make good eye contact with the interviewer
  • Be prepared to share previous work experience, your interests about the position, and why you are a good fit for Shopko
  • Answer behavioral-based questions with CAR technique, describe the Challenge, what Action you took, and the Results you achieved
  • Ask questions about the job to understand the daily responsibilities of the role

After the In-Person Interview:

  • Thank each person for their time interviewing you
  • Ask the interviewers for their business card and send a follow up thank you email expressing your interest
